Color Choices - Based on Head Color

Tangerine | Green

2016_legacy_logo The Ezzy Legacy continues to evolve. For 2016, David gives the new Legacy a more controllable feel across a wider wind spectrum. The new Legacy is also stronger. High density Spectra X Film is now used on the tack panel as well as the use of a combination of RBS epoxy battens and traditional battens.
The mantra of the Legacy is the same. The Legacy Series is designed to offer a more economically priced option for sailors that demand the reputable Ezzy quality. The Legacy Sails deliver sublime performance and durability but we trim the costs by eliminating some of the extra bells and whistles.
The smaller Legacy’s are designed for wave and bump & jump. The larger sizes are built for freeride blasting.
At the heart of it, the Legacy is ready to go to battle for anyone…from the PWA circuit (Graham Ezzy's sail of choice for light wind competition) to recreational enthusiasts.

"The Legacy has everything you need and nothing you don't need. The Legacy reminds me of the days when I was getting full-on custom sails built for competition, they had none of the marketing b.s. that people think they need but don't really. This sail is a classic Ezzy design, pure and simple. "

Note on Ezzy Masts

The Ezzy Hookipa Mast

Ezzy Sails work great with the Ezzy Mast system, but also work with a variety of other brand masts (RDM and regular diameter). You could contact your mast maker and see if the bend of your non-Ezzy mast is compliant.

Ezzy mast bend curves are tip: 75% to 79% and base: 62% to 65%

Note: this is not carbon content. This is percentage bend relative to the midpoint bend.

Hi! What’s the difference (if any) between the Cheetah 6.5 2016 & the Legacy 6.5 2016 given that they now both have 6 battens. Thanx.

    • ezzysails

thank you for asking! The two sails are loosely designed around the same concept, but the Cheetah is a more upgraded freeride design. The Cheetah has a nicer pulley, better battens, and sharper graphics. The Cheetah has a nicer sail bag, and is a faster and better sailing rig. Still, the Legacy is one hell of a sail for the money! The new graphics on the Legacy are quite sharp.

Hi! What’s the difference between the Tiger 4.7 2016 & the Legacy 4.7 2016? Thank you!

    • ezzysails

thank you for asking! The Tiger uses some more expensive materials including sail cloth, battens, and a higher quality pulley and sail bag. Otherwise, they are based upon the same sail shaping.

  • ezzysails

yes! It is a great mast for the Legacy!

  • dave

Hi , just getting back into after a few years off . I’ve been drawn to the Legacy but not quite sure if the Cheetah would be better .
Just bought a 118 jp magic ride 2015 pro am about 79 kilos and prefer sailing in flatter water but if the wind is not too much then occasional choppy conditions. I’m still learning carve gybes so i would put myself in the intermediate level . Look forward too your advice.

    • ezzysails

great question Dave. There are a couple of differences between the two models. The Cheetah has more battens in many cases in comparative sizes. The Cheetah is more powerful, rangy, and stable as a result. The Legacy is lighter in weight, but the materials are not quite as stout as the Cheetah. The Legacy has been a great option for people who are more budget sensitive. Does this help?

Is there any chance of an actual photo of the orange legacy ? Ordering one in a weeks time but can’t decide what colour .

    • ezzysails

it looks like all of my promo shots are of the green color. What shop do you plan on working with? I may be able to get the shop to take a smart phone pic of the sail for you, and send it to you!

  • dave

Thanks for reply , picking one up that I ordered the weekend . Can’t wait . Would a simmer style rdm 9 430/21 imcs be ok with the legacy 5.8?

    • ezzysails

yes, nice mast for this sail!

  • Jan

Hi, does Legacy 2016 have an integrated mastprotector or it is optional like few years ago? Thanx!

    • ezzysails

thank you for asking! The newest Legacy model has a mast protector and pulley.

  • Andy Turner

Hi, could a 5.2 Legacy (2016) be rigged on a 400 base and 430 top?

    • ezzysails

absolutely. Should be a nice mast combo for the Legacy 5.2

  • Tom

is the 5.8 legacy compatable with a neil pryde 430
    spx 65 sdm mast

    • ezzysails

yes, that Pryde mast should be a good fit

  • Jesus

Hi, which mast would you recommend for the 7,5 Legacy sail, RDM or SDM? Thanks in advance

    • ezzysails

thanks for asking! Either SDM or RDM works great on the Legacy. The important thing is to get a mast with the right bend curve. You can read details about our preferences here:

  • Rob F

Hello, I am interested in a legacy 5.5. Obviously you suggest rigging it on a 430 mast, but with the adjustable head strap could you get away with using a Powerex 460 60%? Thanks

    • ezzysails

indeed, yes! You can certainly make a 5.5 work on a 460.
