Ezzy Cheetah

Our go-to flat water sail, the Cheetah has a soft, locked-in race feel. Camless and easy to rig, the Cheetah’s deep foil provides power and speed. When we freeride, we want to go fast, nail 100% of our jibes, and rocket into the air if a ramp appears. This is the easy freedom that inspired the Cheetah, and what the Cheetah delivers.

The Cheetah is pure freeride but can hold its own against any race sail. The forgiving, soft feel makes the Cheetah a dream to gybe. The Cheetah rigs on all RDM and SDM masts. And, like all Ezzy Sails, the Cheetah is built to last.

  • High Tech Material The Cheetah is built with Dyneema reinforced X-ply, ripstop scrim-X, and a Weft-Stop anti-rip sleeve cloth. Every seam is glued and covered before being sewn.
  • Factory Tuning In the Ezzy factory, they rig every Cheetah on the correct mast with the correct downhaul and outhaul. And then they tune the battens. After all that, every inch of the sail is thoroughly inspected to make sure it meets the quality standards.

The new Cheetah raises the bar on freeride sails.

A portion of every sail we sell goes to help schools in Sri Lanka.

The Ezzy Hookipa Mast

Ezzy Sails work great with the Ezzy Mast system, but also work with a variety of other brand masts (RDM and regular diameter). You could contact your mast maker and see if the bend of your non-Ezzy mast is compliant.

Ezzy mast bend curves are tip: 75% to 79% and base: 62% to 65%

Note: this is not carbon content. This is percentage bend relative to the midpoint bend.

Our removable, 316 stainless steel tack pulley can be replaced with our 316 stainless D-ring for those who prefer a grommet with a pulley hook.

New Cheetah has a colored line at the lower part. Is it for structural change or pure design change?

    • ezzysails

the construction of the ’17 and ’18 Cheetah is the same, but there is some differences in the panel layout.

  • Av Sup

It’s time to replace my NP H2 9.2 with either Cheetah or Lion 9.5 for my JP SuperLightWind board.
Is it possible to use my mast (Unifiber Flex Top 490), and my boom 180-240?

    • ezzysails

great to get your question! The Unifiber masts are a little softer in the tip than our masts, but David believes they still work pretty well in our Lion and Cheetah sails. Hope this helps!

  • Jan Tickell

    I’ve just purchased three Cheetahs, 5.5, 6.5 and 7.5..
Very pleased with the build quality and power, they appear to rig ok on rrd 100% masts..
When i rig on med settings on down haul and out haul the sail touches the boom down to the harness lines when powered up.
    Is this correct?

    • ezzysails

      hi Jan,
thank you for the message. The best way for us to verify is to check an image of your rigging. Have a peek at this super short video to show how we like the sail to be best presented.

Please email images of your rigged sail to David Ezzy at [email protected]

  • Magnar Tveito

Hi, I have pre-ordered a Cheetah 6.0 for delivery next year. I now have a Ezzy Legacy 400 bottom / 430 top mast. Will it be usable, or will it be worth the upgrade to a full 430?
    Best Regards from Norway.

    • ezzysails

congratulations Magnar! We recommend you use the 430 tip/430 bottom on the 6.0 for best performance. The 430 tip/400 bottom is just a little too soft a mast for ideal performance and range.

  • Jim

Hi, I’m 75kg and looking for a recommendation on sail sizes to cover the lighter days, say 12-18kts. is 6.5 to 8.0 too big of a jump in size to be well covered?

    • ezzysails

thank you for the message Jim! According to our survey, I think a 7.5 is the perfect target size for 12-18 knots…but I would think an 8.0 would be an even better choice. The sails can be tuned with so much range and sail overpowered/underpowered better than ever.

I firmly believe in bigger jumps between sail sizes as soon as you get over 5.2. A 6.5 to 8.0 spacing makes perfect sense. I say go with the 8.0!

      • Jim

As a follow up, if you had the choice of a 6.0, 7.0 and an 8.0 quiver or the two sail 6.5 and 8.0 would you go for the 2 or 3 sail option?

        • ezzysails

I honestly think the 8.0/6.5 option is best (2 sail option). Less is more!
